A simple way to validate recombinant expression without using a bioreactor
- 50% less hands-on work
-
Automated harvest and feeding reduced manual steps compared to batch processes
- Up to 10x lower operating cost
-
Validated expression workflows at a fraction of the cost of a fed-batch reactor run
The Challenge 🔬
Early validation of recombinant protein expression required either low-control flask experiments or costly, time-intensive bioreactor runs, limiting speed and experimental throughput.
The Nalca Biotech Solution: Feasibility & Validation 🔥
Stage 1: Focus on biomass growth; Stage 2: Focus on production of the target product. A Nalca 1 was used as an automated, continuous-simplified system to evaluate expression performance between flask scale and fed-batch reactors, without the cost or complexity of operating a bioreactor.
Outcomes
- Fast. Faster evaluation of expression stability and construct performance.
- Cost-effective. Reduced reliance on bioreactor time and associated operating costs.
- Prepared to scale. Enabled early de-risking before advancing to fed-batch and larger-scale runs.
